Every Nipped Out figure starts life as a pencil drawing. For our personalised pieces we start that drawing from a photo of someone you love – a partner, a child, a grandparent, the friend who never sits still – so the little wooden figure escaping the frame is unmistakably them.
How it works
- Pick a piece. Choose any framed escape from the shop – the pose you like best.
- Choose Your own escape. On the product page, under Figure, pick Your own escape (+£50). On our two-figure pieces you can have one or both figures drawn from your photos.
- Send your photo. Once you've ordered, email your photo to hello@nippedout.co.uk with your order number and anything you'd like us to include.
- Approve the drawing. We'll send you the finished pencil figure to approve before it goes anywhere near the printer.
- We make it. Printed on 3 mm birch ply, cut by hand, fixed to your chosen frame and posted in a gift box.
What makes a good photo
- The person standing upright, full length from head to feet.
- Clear and in focus – good daylight helps.
- A plain background.
- One person per photo. For two figures, choose the both-figures option and send two photos.
- Mention the details that matter: the glasses, the wellies, the team shirt, the dog.
Price and timing
Personalisation is £50 per figure on top of the price of the piece. Allow around 5 extra working days for the drawing and your approval, then the usual 3 to 5 days for making. Because each one is drawn just for you, personalised pieces can't be returned unless something's wrong with them – and if it is, we'll put it right.
